April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of a few female players of beach volleyball who be able to do so. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross aims to earn her Olympic debut gold but she's also hoping to win more. As she turns 39, it could be her last chance to win the gold medal at an Olympics. She's certain that the top prizes are in reach. If we play our best or even if we do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. It's also going to be the result of luck. Ross born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided there together with her parents. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete, she also played indoor track and volleyball. But she stood out in this sport. According to her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her as the National Player of 1999. Also, in 2000 she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before the year. She has won major events twice, with various partners. The other has become an icon in the volleyball world. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship together with Kessy in 2009 was also a major force on international stage. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The pair were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC after high school. This was years before Ross hit the sand and turned professional. The Trojans had a great career for Ross in the college level. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. She also helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. After her sophomore year she suffered a devastating personal loss, yet earned the distinction of being an All-American. Through her two final years in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title every year. She had established herself as an all-time legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
