Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Her songs were written before she could read and write. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was 8 and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. The same time, Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. At the age of 16, she made herself known to the community, but her goals were bigger. When she was graduating in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing on his show. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. The band split in 1974, when her solo singles such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene oversold her collaborations. Parton composed "I Will Always Love You" for Wagoner soon after their split. The track hit No. The first time that a song hit the top spot.
